As the dog days of summer slip away, we thought we’d take this opportunity to slip away ourselves. Unframed will be taking the week off for a little rest and relaxation. To tide you over, we’ve gathered up some of our favorite Unframed posts of the summer.
- We had some acquisition news! Costume & Textiles curator Kaye Spilker detailed the acquisition of an eighteenth-century Altar Frontal, and Latin American Art curator Ilona Katzew talked about Manuel Arellano’s Virgin of Guadalupe.
- Allison Agsten made a point of getting into the galleries every single day for a month—here were some of her highlights.
- Scott Tennent shared a photograph of forty-five L.A. artists taken on LACMA’s front steps in 1968.
- Andrew W. Mellon Fellow Erin K. Jue shed some light on paper conservation.
- Curator Carol Eliel detailed her “glamorous” trip to Europe—mostly spent in the cab of a truck and roadside motels.
- Devi Noor took a look at some historic parks in light of the impending State budget cuts.
- Allison and Conservation Photographer Yosi Poseilov documented the rigmarole of a photo shoot for our Ardabil Carpet.
- Tom Drury found a “latitude of coincidence” between our Pompeii and the Roman Villa and MOCA’s Collecting History.
We'll be back next week fully recharged.
