Latin Sounds This Saturday: La Victoria and Farofa

August 15, 2018
Mitch Glickman, Director of Music Programs

LACMA's Latin Sounds serves as a Hollywood Bowl-esque environment, where you can come picnic on the grass in the park area behind the museum and hear the best of Latin music from around the world. And it's free! This Saturday, August 18, LACMA presents a special double-bill program featuring the Mexican folk music band, La Victoria, and a new Brazilian/world music group, Farofa.

Mexican culture inspires La Victoria to use the core instruments of Mariachi to achieve the sound and experience of California. Farofa delivers passion-filled performances of traditional Brazilian rhythms blended with modern stylings and influences.

This special concert of Mexican and Brazilian-inspired music is made possible through the support of the Consulate General of Brazil in Los Angeles, with additional support form the Brazil Arts Connection and the Brazilian Jazz Hour. The concert is also supported by the Consulate General of Mexico in Los Angeles.

There are only three weeks left for this summer's Latin Sounds series, which wraps on Saturday, September 1, with Ricardo Lemvo and Makina Loca. Stop by with your friends and family to celebrate summer nights in style!
