In February, LACMA opened the first exhibition ever organized outside of Asia on the great Ming dynasty painter Qiu Ying (c. 1494–c.1552). Where the Truth Lies: The Art of Qiu Ying, which grapples with such issues as artists who cross social boundaries, literacy, and the importance of connoisseurship in determining quality and authenticity, will close on September 7, 2020. Although we are unable to extend Where the Truth Lies: The Art of Qiu Ying, LACMA is working to extend as many exhibitions as possible as we await permission from the state and the county to reopen our doors, and look forward to welcoming you back as soon as we can.
