This Saturday, March 23, is the annual SoCal Museums Free-for-All, when LACMA will be joining over 30 local museums to offer free admission all day long, from 7–10 pm. Remember, free advance timed-entry tickets are required, so make sure you reserve your spot before you visit.
Tickets include admission to all galleries and exhibitions, including Painting in the River of Angels: Judy Baca and The Great Wall, Dining with the Sultan: The Fine Art of Feasting, Imagined Fronts: The Great War and Global Media, the Modern Art Galleries, and more, so there’s something to see no matter your interests. You can also get an in-depth look at what’s on view with docent tours exploring Islamic art in relation to its associated culinary traditions, Vincent Valdez’s painting on a 1953 Good Humor ice cream, and the history of Judy Baca’s work on The Great Wall of Los Angeles.
Throughout the day, visitors of all ages are invited to enjoy free art-making activities at the Boone Children's Gallery and the roving Drawing Cart. Families can also join a scavenger hunt and pick up a free Dogs of LACMA sticker set and LACMA Loves Los Angeles art kit (while supplies last), and can sign up for NexGenLA, the museum's free membership for Los Angeles County youth under 17 and under.
LACMA is also located near other arts and culture institutions like the Academy Museum of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, Craft Contemporary, and the La Brea Tar Pits and Museum, which are taking part in the free-for-all, so you can explore them all. Get more info and reserve your free tickets to LACMA.
