Be sure to visit our latest special exhibition Robert Mapplethorpe: The Perfect Medium. The exhibition explores the artist's career from his art school days to his final portraits. Both deeply moving and impenetrable, Mapplethorpe's work was made in the search for what he called "perfection in form." Learn more on a tour on Sunday afternoon at 2:30 pm.
Other exhibitions of interest include The Seductive Line: Eroticism in Early Twentieth-Century Germany and Austria. The Seductive Line features an exploration of human subjectivity and interpersonal experience. The work brings up questions of love, sex, women, and the body while conflating sexual desire with a certain anxiety. The exhibition is currently on view in the Ahmanson Building, Level 2.
Sundays Live brings violinist Blake Pouliot and pianist Hsin-I Huang to campus, performing Korngold: Concerto in D major, Opus 35 and other works. Twenty-one-year-old Pouliot lends a charismatic style to his performance with collaborative pianist Huang. The performance begins at 6 pm in the Bing Theater.
Tours this weekend include Art of the Anicent World on Friday at 3 pm, Contemporary Art of the Middle East on Saturday at 2 pm, and European Art on Sunday at 2 pm.
