Watch a concert Saturday night in celebration of the exhibition Moholy-Nagy: Future Present. Two of today's leading contemporary composers will perform optoacoustic, electronic, multi-media, and acoustic works inspired by the art of László Moholy-Nagy. Discover the visual universe of the utopian artist through live optoacoustic visualiziation—notes and sounds from the stage are translated into optical signs in real time. Enjoy sound bites accompanied by digital animations and dive into a whole new world. Your eyes and ears will thank you.
The music continues Sunday night with The Crossroads Chamber Orchestra in the Bing Theater. The orchestra, led by Alexander Treger and Henry Shin, will perform pieces by Barber, Mozart, and Bloch. Since 1981, more than 150 musicians have graduated from the Crossroads program, and then have gone to distinguished careers as performers or teachers and mentors. In sharing their talents and passion for music, they have made a difference in the world through their career and service to others.
Don't forget to reserve your spot for James Turrell's Ganzfeld. The immersive installation is designed to entirely eliminate the viewer's depth perception. Turrell is considered one of the most important artists of the Southern California Light and Sound movement, whose work is a nexus for the worlds of art, science, architecture, astronomy, mathematics, archaeology, and spirituality.
Of course, be sure to check out our many exhibitions on view. See fun type treatments in Ed Fella, meditative works in A Walk in Nature, German abstraction in Forms in Fragments, and much, much more.
