Step out in style this weekend at LACMA as we celebrate our annual DAPPER DAY + LACMA on Saturday, June 9, with a focus on the vibrant exhibition David Hockney: 82 Portraits and 1 Still-life. This event welcomes all styles, from vintage classics to avant-garde looks. LACMA will also host its very first DAPPER DAY® Marketplace on Saturday, with a refined selection of style-related vendors from 10 am–7 pm on the L.A. Times Central Court.
The LACMA Store will also be showcasing its Spring 2018 Wear LACMA Collection with apparel inspired by the museum's permanent collection and exhibitions. This season, Wear LACMA is featuring new designs by LFrank and THE GREAT, with all proceeds benefiting the museum.
Throughout Saturday, there will be docent-led tours, free with museum admission, of David Hockney: 82 Portraits and 1 Still-life at 12 pm and 4 pm, a 3 pm free film screening of MONDO Hollywood, a 1964 film that defines the era when David Hockney first made California his home, and a Latin Sounds concert at 5 pm featuring Latin Grammy-nominated percussionist Lily Hernandez. Then dance the night away right in front of Urban Light with the eclectic sounds of DJ Professor Watson from 7 to 9 pm.
To add more music to your weekend, stop by this Friday, June 8, at 6 pm for Jazz at LACMA with a performance by the talented trombonist and bandleader Phil Ranelin. So gather your finest clothes, pack up your picnic blankets, and make LACMA your primary art destination this weekend!
