Halloween is just around the corner. Do you know what you are going to dress up as? If not, come to LACMA this weekend and get inspired by Fantasies and Fairy Tales, on view through February 3, 2019. The exhibition features artworks, both whimsical and spooky, all relating to popular fairy tales, myths, and legends in the graphic arts in the years around 1900, with select earlier examples as well as more recent works. Explore the various creatures and characters in the exhibition and learn more about their imaginative stories and purpose. 

For more spooktacular activities, join LACMA Local on Saturday, October 20, at 10 am for Local: Witch. LACMA Local members will be led by Art Witch and Oracle of Los Angeles Amanda Yates Garcia on a spotlight tour of To Rome and Back. The group will explore works focusing on women in the classical world and their influence relating to power, eroticism, feminity, and magic. Have your eye of newt or bundle of sage ready because the tour will end with a mystical ritual to invoke the power of old-world witches. LACMA Local gives you special access to events like this on the first and third Saturday of every month. If you're a creature of the night and would love to make art in the dark, consider signing up for a special photography workshop Twilight at LACMA on Friday, at 5:30–8:30 pm. Led by teaching artist and photographer Loretta Ayeroff, this course lets you bring your own camera into the museum campus at the "golden hour" where you can explore different vantage points, use ambient light, and capture its effect on buildings, landscapes, scenes, and people. 

On the topic of the Halloween spirit, bring your spirits and snacks to Jazz at LACMA on Friday at 6 pm and enjoy the engaging improvisational music of the Jon Mayer Trio. Then on Sunday at 6 pm, come to Sundays Live and listen to the "richly upholstered and well balanced" music of Capital Ensemble.
