This weekend at LACMA, Jazz at LACMA returns after taking a break last week. This Friday, November 9, at 6 pm, Dale Fielder takes the stage. Fielder is best known for his baritone sax sounds and having worked with the likes of Geri Allen, Robin Eubanks, and Eric Reed. 

On Saturday, at 10 am, LACMA Local will join the Institute for Art and Olfaction's Minetta Rogers for Scent, an aromatic exploration inspired by Robert Rauschenberg's life and monumental work, The 1/4 Mile or 2 Furlong Piece, on view through June 9. Minetta will share an insightful narrative with LACMA Local members about mixed media and nontraditional materials through a hands-on smelling session exploring perfumery's most interesting molecules. At 2 pm, artist Mimi Lauter visits LACMA for the Artist on Art series, where she will discuss etchings by James Ensor and a 15th-century Missale Romanum and how they related to her own art practice. Mimi Lauter is a Los Angeles-based artist, working with small and large-scale works on paper using primarily pastel and her drawings are painterly and immersive, with vibrant colors and texture that derive from subconscious memory, literature, sociopolitical surroundings, and classical mythology. 

Then on Sunday, November 11, Andell Family Sundays is back with Rome If You Want To at 12:30 pm. The of the program focus is on the show To Rome and Back: Individualism and Authority in Art, 1500–1800, featuring artworks from LACMA’s collection of paintings, sculptures, decorative arts, and costume and textiles influenced by one of the greatest cities in the world. Take a family-friendly, bilingual tour of the exhibition and get inspired to make art in workshops for free! At 6 pm, attend Sundays Live for a free performance by none other than Brazilian pianist Simone Leitão performing Bach, Mehmari, Villa-Lobos, and Busoni. Known for her intense vitality, ample technical means, strong rhythmic drive, and fire in her performances, Leitão continues to rise as one of the most exciting pianists of her generation to emerge from Brazil.
