This evening, the 28th season of Jazz at LACMA kicks off with a performance by the Bill Holman Big Band. Free and open to the public, these outdoor concerts are a great way to experience the museum with friends and family.

Join us for a Saturday afternoon conversation off-site at The Broad titled “Exhibiting Black Art in 1970s Los Angeles,” co-presented with LACMA. The talk will feature Suzanne Jackson (artist and founder of Gallery 32), Dale Davis (artist and co-founder of the influential Leimert Park-based Brockman Gallery), and Ian White (artist and son of Charles White), and will be moderated by Sarah Loyer (curator of The Broad's presentation of Soul of a Nation: Art in the Age of Black Power 1963–1983). This program is in conjunction with LACMA’s presentation of Charles White: A Retrospective.

Be mesmerized by the vivid colors and patterns in the exhibition Power of Pattern: Central Asian Ikats from the David and Elizabeth Reisbord Collection. Learn about this textile tradition on a family-friendly tour, then make your own wearable creation, or a handmade book of colorful patterns in artist-led workshops during Andell Family Sundays from 12:30 to 3:30 pm.

This weekend only—join us for Ben Klevay's She Chimp hand-painted custom paper signs events on Saturday and Sunday from 11 am to 5 pm in front of the Plaza Store at LACMA. Ben designed our new line of apparel and will paint 10 custom signs each day that will feature personalized text. To purchase a sign you must be at LACMA in person to sign up. Signs will be available on a first come, first served basis, one sign per customer, $50 each.
