This weekend at LACMA, explore the magnificent works in the exhibition Beyond Line: The Art of Korean Writing, on view through September 29. Beyond line is the first exhibition held outside of Asia to focus on the history of writing and calligraphy in Korea, exploring the role of calligraphy in different strata of Korean society over nearly two millennia. Due to the rarity of several of the international loans, Beyond Line will only be on view at LACMA—making this a truly once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. For a deeper understanding of the exhibition, join a docent-led tour on Saturday, August 3 at 2 pm, free with general admission. Get more hands-on at Andell Family Sundays—The Art of Korean Writing on Sunday, August 4 from 12:30 to 3:30 pm, with free, family-friendly artist-led workshops inspired by works in the exhibition.
First-time Fridays is back this weekend! If you or someone you know has never visited the museum, bring them this Friday and check out what LACMA has to offer. Let us know you’re a first-timer at the Ticket Office and receive special discounts and gifts. At 2 pm, bring the little ones in your life to Story Time for a fun reading journey in the Boone Children's Gallery. Hang around for Jazz at LACMA at 6 pm for a moving performance by five-time Grammy Award winning composer and pianist Billy Childs.
Lastly, don't miss an electrifying performance by the West Coast Salsa Orchestra on Saturday, August 3 at 5 pm for Latin Sounds. We hope to see you soon!
