This weekend, LACMA invites you to stop by our booth at the Van Nuys Arts Festival, presented by Councilmember Nury Martinez, this Friday evening from 5 to 9 pm. The event's theme is "glow" and LACMA will present She Chimp working under blacklight to create free custom nameplates on fluorescent paper (first come, first served). She Chimp is an L.A.-based artist who makes hand-lettered signs and recently created a collection of T-shirts, sweatshirts, and totes for LACMA and has done pop-ups at the museum.

This Friday at 2 pm, bring the little ones in your life to Story Time in the Galleries where they can take a reading journey into a world of folk tales and colors. Also, on Monday, September 30 at 2 pm, don't miss a very special edition of Story Time in the Galleries: American Sign Language where education staff will read along with an ASL signer and participants will have an opportunity to learn a few more signs at the end of the program.

Come down to Jazz at LACMA this Friday at 6 pm and enjoy some great tunes by vocalist Paulette McWilliams. On Sunday at 6 pm, attend Sundays Live's first performance in collaboration with St. James' in-the-City, featuring Harpist Marcia Dickstein, the Debussy Trio, and Friends.

Lastly, don't miss your last chance to visit Beyond Line: The Art of Korean Writing, closing this Sunday, September 29. This is the first exhibition held outside of Asia to focus on the history of writing and calligraphy in Korea. Organized both conceptually and chronologically, Beyond Line explores the role of calligraphy in different strata of Korean society over nearly two millennia and includes works both in hanja (Chinese ideographic characters) and hangeul (the unique Korean phonetic script). Due to the rarity of several of the international loans, Beyond Line will only be on view at LACMA—making this a truly once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.
