This weekend at LACMA we have something cooking in the galleries that's guaranteed to satisfy your artistic tastebuds. Come visit Do Ho Suh: 348 West 22nd Street, a replica of the artist’s ground-floor residence from a single New York building. The corridor, stairs, apartment, and studio are each rendered in a single block of color, with fixtures and appliances replicated in exacting detail. Visitors are welcome to enter the installation on a first-come, first-served basis. Children ages 12 and younger must be accompanied by an adult and the narrow doorways cannot accommodate most wheelchairs or walkers, but the artwork is displayed to encourage exterior viewing from all angles. If you're fascinated by Do Ho Suh's imaginative use of translucent polyester, then you'll love the works in The Allure of Matter: Material Art from China, on view through January 5. The exhibition features some of the most influential Chinese contemporary artists whose media range from the commonplace to the unconventional, the natural to the synthetic, the elemental to the composite: from plastic, water, and wood, to hair, tobacco, and Coca-Cola. Join a docent-led tour on Friday, November 29 at 1 pm or Sunday, December 1 at 1 pm for more insights on the exhibition, free with general admission.

On Friday, November 29 at 2 pm bring your little ones to Story Time in the Galleries and cozy up as our friendly education staff takes you on a reading journey. Then at 6 pm, join us for the last Jazz at LACMA performance of the season by Bruns Collective with vocalist Kevin Baché. Jazz at LACMA will return in April 2020—same place, same time.
