Opening to the public on Sunday, Delacroix’s Greece on the Ruins of Missolonghi highlights one of the most celebrated French paintings of the 19th century. A monumental painting that rarely travels outside of Bordeaux, France, this painting depicts the loss and suffering of a devastating battle during the Greek War of Independence in 1825. Members see it first during a preview day on Saturday. This presentation joins the list of new exhibitions at LACMA, including Larry Sultan: Here and HomeArt of the Samurai, and Landscapes of Devotion: Visualizing Sacred Sites in India. At Andell Family Sundays explore the artistic connection between an ancient and modern city beginning at 12:30 pm. And at Sundays Live the Young Musicians Foundation Debut Orchestra presents 70 of L.A.’s most talented young musicians at 6 pm. Last of all, if you’re a member (or thinking of becoming one!) make sure to do some early holiday shopping during Member Shopping Days, Friday through Sunday, where you can save up to 20% off your purchase on a wide selection of items. Here’s to the weekend.
