January's new beginnings make it the best time to discover what all LACMA has to offer. This weekend, tours of the collection and exhibitions happen daily and cover nearly every gallery.

Saturday morning visitors to Samurai: Japanese Armor from the Ann and Gabriel Barbier-Mueller Collection can participate in the full-length walk-through of the exhibition at 10:30 am to explore the treasure trove of battle gear from the premier collection of samurai armor in the world. Special admission to this exhibition also grants you access to Nature and the American Vision: The Hudson River School, featuring 45 outstanding American landscape paintings from artists such as Thomas Cole, and Pierre Huyghe, an exhibition that constantly morphs while probing the capacity of art to distor and shape reality. In the afternoon, join the 3 pm tour of contemporary art and consider the movements of Cubism, Minimalism, and more. Sunday, tour the lively Archibald Motley: Jazz Age Modernist at noon, or join the 20-minute look at urban landscapes at 2:30 pm.

Beyond tours, Andell Family Sundays returns from winter break with an artist-led workshop inspired by Art of the Samurai: Swords, Paintings, Prints, and Textiles. Andell Family Sundays are free with general admission and designed for children and their parents. Lastly, Sundays Live at 6 pm features the Colburn Chamber Orchestra with conductor Maxim Eshkenazy at the helm. Happy 2015!
