Break out the coolers and picnic blankets, this weekend at LACMA is a fine time for free outdoor concerts and enriching exhibitions.
It all starts with the Cannonball-Coltrane Project performing at Jazz at LACMA on Friday at 6 pm. Saturday, at 1 pm, a double-feature screening of The Lost Angel and Ernst Barlach: Mystic of Modernity present the life and times of the celebrated German sculptor. Later in the afternoon, enjoy a refreshing blend of tropical rhythms, jazz textures, and rock at Latin Sounds, with Freddie Ravel at 5 pm. During the day, join any of the free tours of the collection, like a 20-minute walkthrough of Ancient Colombia: A Journey through the Cauca Valley on Saturday or a full survey of our Contemporary Art galleries on Sunday.
Andell Family Sundays explores the art of Ed Moses: Drawings from the 1960s and 70s on Sunday at 12:30 pm. And pianist Victoria Kirsch and Friends take center stage at Sundays Live at 6 pm.
