On Saturday, at 1 pm, get a behind-the-scenes glimpse into Hockney's work at a free screening of the documentary film Hockney, in which the artist takes director Randall Wright on an exclusive tour of his archives and into his studio.
Also opening this weekend is Picturing the Masses: Germany, 1900–1938, which presents different depictions of masses in early 20th-century German art, from political movements to fighting forces to visualizations of mass production and the assembly line.
Interested in free art-making workshops? On Saturday LACMA is offering workshops in North Hollywood (at the Valley Plaza Branch Library) and at Charles White Elementary School Gallery. The following day, come to LACMA for Andell Family Sundays and get inspired by real and mythical animals of ancient Panama.
